While the Sierra serves to the nostalgia of Tata fans, the Creta woos the colloquial design language.

The Tata Sierra concept has been showcased at the Auto Expo 2025. It has generated significant interest with its futuristic yet nostalgic design. As Tata prepares to revive this iconic nameplate, comparisons with established models like the Hyundai Creta are inevitable. The Creta, a popular choice in the compact SUV segment, is known for its styling and urban appeal. In this article, we compare the exterior designs of these two SUVs:

Tata Sierra vs Hyundai Creta: Design

The Tata Sierra concept has a minimalist and clean front, dominated by a wide, closed-off grille that seamlessly integrates with rectangular LED headlights.

This design reflects Tata's modern design language while nodding to the Sierra's original identity. The bumper features functional air vents.

On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta has a more conventionally designed aggressive fascia. The center-dominated parametric grille leads to the signature split LED headlamp setup, blending in with it. The wide air intake and skid plate detailing line the lower bumper.

From the side, the Tata Sierra concept shows a clean slab-sided profile. There is also a floating roof effect created with blacked-out pillars. This glasshouse area, especially extended rear windows, reminds one of the original Sierra but gives the feel of futurism. Chunky wheel arches and large alloy wheels give it a strong stance, showing it to be ready for an off-road event.

The Hyundai Creta has a much more dynamic side profile with sharp creases and character lines that run along the length of the car. Its rising window line, sculpted wheel arches, and sporty alloy wheels all look more youthful.

At the rear, the Tata Sierra concept continues its minimalist theme with slim LED taillights connected by a light bar. The rear bumper is chunky, with skid plate detailing.

The rear of the Hyundai Creta, however, is more angular. The sharp edges and a bold light cluster for the split taillight design are matched to the aggressive styling of the front. You also get to see a prominent roof spoiler and silver-finished skid plate.

Tata Sierra Expected Price And Rivals

The anticipated starting price of the Tata Sierra (ex-showroom) is Rs 11 lakh. This puts it up against the MG Astor, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos.

The Tata Sierra and Hyundai Creta represent two distinct design philosophies. The Sierra’s clean, minimalist lines and nostalgic touches contrast sharply with the Creta’s bold, angular, and sportier approach. Both designs cater to different buyer preferences. As the Sierra moves closer to production, it will be interesting to see how its design evolves and whether it can compete with established players like the Hyundai Creta in this competitive segment.
