Tata Tiago

Tata has revised the Tiago variant lineup by discontinuing the base XB variant. This makes the Tiago XE, which is priced at Rs 4.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the new base variant. Earlier, the Tiago XB was priced at Rs 63,000 lower than the XE variant, which made owning the hatchback a lot more affordable. But being the bare-bones variant, the XB missed out features such as full wheel covers, front power socket, driver seatbelt reminder, AC and even adjustable headrests for the front seats. The current variant lineup and their prices are as follows:

Petrol

Diesel

XE - Rs 4,20,500

XE - Rs 5,00,369

XE (O) - Rs 4,36,616

XE (O) - Rs 5,07,538

XM - Rs 5,36,013

XM (O) - Rs 4,68,324

XZ+ With Dual Tone Roof - Rs 6,49,137

XZ+ With Dual Tone Roof - Rs 5,71,096

All prices, Ex-showroom Delhi.

XZA - Rs 5,74,449

Since the variant lineup now starts with the Tiago XE, you get a decent amount of safety features as standard. While ABS with EBD and Cornering Stability Control were only offered in the XZ and XZ+ variants before, Tata Motors has now made them standard across the range. Meanwhile, dual front airbags and seatbelt with pretensioners and load limiters, which are standard on the XZ and XZ+ variant, are available as an option in the the XE, XM and XT variants. In terms of features, the new entry-level variant gets a pretty basic set as standard. This includes an AC, wheel covers, and drive modes. However, it misses out on any kind of music system, power windows and electrically-adjustable ORVMs.

Tata Tiago

Tata has also made a few changes to the feature distribution in the variants as well. The collapsible grab handles, which were earlier available from the XM variant onwards, are now offered as standard. However, the XM variant no longer gets a rear parcel tray. That feature is now limited to the XZ and XZ+ variants. And while follow-me-home headlamps were available from the XM variant previously, that feature has now been added to the Tiago XT as well. Similarly, height adjustable driver seat and adjustable front headrests are now only available in the XZ and XZ+ variants and are no longer available as an option in the lower variants.

The last time Tata updated the Tiago’s variants was in December last year when it introduced a new flagship XZ+ variant. This variant brought some much-needed features to the Tiago, which helped it stay in competition with the likes of the new Hyundai Santro and the recently-launched Maruti WagonR. The Tiago ZX+ is priced at Rs 5.64 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 6.42 lakh for the diesel variant. It gets features like single/dual-tone paint options and a 7-inch touchscreen from the Tata Tigor facelift. It’s priced at a premium of Rs 26,000 to Rs 42,000, depending on the engine chosen, over the previous top-spec XZ variant.
