Last year, Tata Motors added a much needed power steering to the Nano and it sure made a difference in the overall driveability of the car. This year they intend to take it a step further with the launch of the GenX Nano. Our sources reveal that this new GenX Nano is slated to be launched in May. Although our sources revealed that Tata Motors will be launching the car in the beginning of May, there is no official confirmation from Tata as yet. Bookings for the new GenX Nano have already commenced with a minimum booking amount of Rs 5,000.
One of the biggest drawbacks in the current generation Nano was the absence of a boot. In the new GenX Nano, Tata Motors has addressed the need with an openable tail gate. Aside from this, the GenX Nano will get redesigned front and rear bumpers, smoked headlamps and a new position for the exhaust. It is also expected to have a larger fuel tank. Aside from this, expect a few changes on the inside too with refreshed interior options. As far as features are concerned, the GenX Nano will come with power steering, air-conditioner with heater, central locking, ORVMs on both sides and a multimedia infotainment system with Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity.
The GenX Nano will continue to remain the same as far as the engine is concerned. That means it will sport a 624cc 2-cylinder gasoline unit that makes 38PS and 51Nm. Moreover, aside from the 4-speed manual transmission, this one will also be offered with an AMT.
In a bid to push the sales of the GenX Nano, Tata has already kick-started a pre-launch offer wherein current Nano can exchange their car for a good price at the dealership and will get an additional bonus of Rs20,000. With the car set to be launched in May, we expect it to be priced marginally higher than the top-end petrol XT trim at around Rs 2.7 lakh. Stay tuned for more details on the new Tata GenX Nano.
