BREAKING: 2025 Honda SP125 Launched In India

It might have the stance of an adventure-tourer but Honda’s NC750X has always been known in Europe and the US as a do-it-all motorcycle. With its relaxed ergonomics, wind protection and on-board storage, it’s a comfortable tourer. And with its easy-going, frugal (for a 745cc twin that is) motor and optional dual-clutch transmission, it also fulfills the role of a commuter rather well. For the 2021 model year, Honda has just unveiled the Euro 5 version of the NC750X in Europe with a few important updates.

Revised motor & gearbox
The 2021 NC750X doesn’t see as much of a mechanical update as it did back in 2014. That said, a completely overhauled exhaust system, revised valve timing and a 600rpm increase to the redline sees the new model get a bump in peak power to 58.5PS. Even peak torque is now higher, at 69Nm, with a better spread available through the engine’s mid-range. First, second and third gears are shorter for better usability in urban conditions, while the fourth, fifth and sixth gears have been made taller for better efficiency and higher cruising speeds on the highway. As always, there’s a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) available as an option as well, just like the CRF1100L Africa Twin.
Revised electronics
More than the engine, the bigger update to the NC750X has been to the electronics department. The bike now features a ride-by-wire throttle which has allowed for four riding modes (Sport, Rain, Standard and Custom), a more refined traction control with three different intervention settings, and smarter gear changes (on the DCT version).

Revised underpinnings
While the NC750X still looks like an adventure-tourer, Honda has dropped the 2021 model’s suspension travel to 120mm at both ends - a reduction of 30mm over the previous generation. So any off-road aspirations potential NC buyers had are now firmly quashed. But the benefit of reducing suspension travel has been a drop in seat height to just 800mm, meaning shorter riders will now have a much easier time straddling the bike. A redesigned chassis has also made for a 6kg drop in kerb weight, and it now tips the scales at just 214kg.
Revised features
The NC750X is now more practical than before as it features an even larger 23-litre under-tank storage area, which Honda claims can now hold a full-size full-face helmet. And there’s a USB port under there for charging your mobile phone. It also gets a new full-LCD instrument panel, although this is a simple monochrome unit. To round things off, the lighting is now all-LED and the windshield is larger as well for better wind protection.

Honda hasn’t announced prices for the 2021 NC750X yet, but they should remain fairly consistent with the current model when it goes on sale in its European showrooms by the end of the year - around 7,240 British Pounds in the UK for the manual model (approx Rs 7.14 lakh). We’re fairly certain that an all-rounder like the NC750X will find an audience in India as well, but whether Big Red decided to bring it over is something that remains to be seen.
