A variety of vehicles combine futuristic tech and retro styling

After a fairly long teaser campaign that started all the way back in January 2013 and several delays in launch, the Cyberpunk 2077 video game has finally been released. While the game itself is built towards the single-player RPG genre, it’s also quite a treat for those who love sweet rides. Thanks to its open world nature, you can try them out in various environments. There’s even a mini series of racing side missions. Cyberpunk 2077 comes with several poster-worthy models that bring out a retro-futuristic vibe when you’re roaming around Night City. Here are some of the sexiest rides in the game:

Thorton Galena Rattler

Kicking off the list is one you get as a starter car when opting for the ‘Nomad’ path in the game. While it seems like a rustbucket for the desert, the player has to start somewhere. It looks quite retro with its overall silhouette resembling that of a Volkswagen Golf Mk1.

Makigai Maimai

Imagine a futuristic Kei car in 2077, well that’s exactly what the Makigai Maimai showcases. This cutesy little Japanese budget car may not have space or grunt, but it can be pretty nippy around bumper-to-bumper traffic as well as getting in and out of tight spots. As one of the characters in the game puts it, “There enough room for you, your groceries, and your guns.”

Arch Nasare CD

You might recognise this bike from real life, as it is based on the Arch Method 143. It also serves as an easter egg for the petrolhead-Reeves crossover fan base since the Arch Motorcycle brand is co-founded by Keanu Reeves, who also stars in the game. Aside from a few tweaks, the Nasare CD remains just as bold as the Method 143. A bit too much like the real world, the bike is a quicker way to get around the virtual city and the Nasare looks cool doing it.

Chevillion Thrax

Fancy a bit of bling through Night City? The Chevilion Thrax 388 Jefferson is sort of a Rolls Royce of Cyberpunk 2077. What’s more, the executive limousine is quite the tough cookie with armour all around to cruise through explosions along with bulletproof windows to be safe from high-calibre rounds. But if this is too old school, the game also has the futuristically styled Herrera Outlaw GTS which is a lot faster but doesn’t have the same suave.

Rayfield Caliburn

Cyberpunk 2077’s imagining of a hypercar looks fairly futuristic, while also borrowing its aerodynamic shape from hypercars of the present. Some notable bits include a completely covered front windshield,  beefy air intakes all over, and a digitised cabin.

Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech

This one’s fitting for the main protagonist of the game, ‘V’. The Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech is quite the looker with its cocktail of inspirations that make for a retro-futuristic design. The closest similarities with rear word design are its low front-high rear like the Lamborghini Diablo as well as strakes similar to the Ferrari Testarossa of the 80s. Those golden accents across the black body shade certainly add a nice finishing touch if not a hark back to the John Player styled F1 liveries in the 70s.

Porsche 911 II (930) Turbo

Last but not least, is the iconic Porsche 911 II (930) Turbo which is owned by the character Johnny Silverhand that’s played by none other than Keanu Reeves. It’s arguably the only model that really retains its retrolicious 70’s look with a metallic body and John Silverman’s ‘Samurai’ band logo at the rear. The modifications include rear view mirror cameras as well as a plethora of monitors and sensors inside.

Which one of the above Cyberpunk 2077 models would you hitch a ride on? Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with the next-gen consoles getting it in 2021.
