We haven’t yet come across a custom Harley-Davidson Livewire, well except for the one-offs that were built for the ‘Long Way Up’. But JVB-Moto, one of the most acclaimed European custom shops decided to change that with the ‘Silent Alarm’, a simple and subtle restyle of the Livewire. Interestingly, the build was commissioned straight from Harley-Davidson’s headquarters in Milwaukee.
The folks from JVB-Moto were given complete freedom to overhaul the bike with their signature design elements. In fact Jens, the man behind JVB-moto, wanted the bike to be road legal in Europe so as to have a limited production run for the custom LiveWire.
What’s interesting is that an OEM-produced electric bike has never been customised before, at least none that we know of. So the Silent Alarm is a special bike, to say the least.
The LiveWire currently doesn't have any third-party accessories that can simply be swapped out for the standard ones. So the main focus revolved around new bodywork for the bike, including a new mock 'fuel tank'. The custom shop focused on using fiberglass rather than carbon fibre since it isn't the best choice around high voltage cables.
The changes are subtle, so you really need to have a keen eye to spot them. The seat along with the entire tail section is new, and so is the front fender and tiny air scoops positioned under the tank. Even the alloy wheels feature carbon fibre covers for a stealthier look.
The mini fairing fitted around the headlight that comes from the factory has been replaced with a simple nacelle and LED headlight reminiscent of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701. A pair of Blaze Laserlights installed in custom housings on either side of the battery pack provide the extra bit of illumination one requires on dimly lit roads.
Pan over, and you'll notice the new handlebars from LSL complete with custom risers that also hold the full-digital console. Finishing touches include better brakes pads, Pro Brake levers and a premium monoshock upgrade from Sport Evolution -- a former Moto2 race team who are now starting their own line of high-end suspension setups.
According to Jen, the Silent Alarm is the perfect night-time city hooligan that could feature in Cyberpunk 2077! The ingenious use of classic lines paired with modern touches is what sets the bike apart.
