The ongoing Auto Expo witnessed plenty of showcases, ranging from future concepts, electric vehicles (EVs) to massive SUVs. Every carmaker that participated put up a great show, giving us a peek into what’s in store for 2020. Meanwhile, we also witnessed a couple of car launches and here are five that you should not miss out on:
1.Kia Carnival
Yes, Kia’s second offering for India is the uber luxurious Carnival MPV, which was launched at Rs 24.95 lakh at Auto Expo 2020. It is available in three variants: Prestige, Premium and Limousine. Powering the MPV is a 2.2-litre diesel engine that puts out a healthy 190PS of power and 440Nm of torque. These figures are sent to the road with the help of an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
2.eKUV100
Mahindra launched the eKUV100 electric vehicle in India at Rs 8.25 lakh. The all-electric mini SUV was first showcased at Auto Expo 2018. Highlights include a claimed range of 147km, DC fast charging and connected car features. It is also one of the most affordable EVs around, competing with the Tata Tigor EV and the Mahindra eVerito electric cars.
3.Harrier BS6 Automatic
The refreshed Tata Harrier comes with a BS6 diesel engine and an automatic gearbox. Prices now range from Rs Rs 13.69 lakh for the XE manual variant, while the Harrier BS6 automatic starts at Rs 16.25 lakh. The SUV also gains a new top-spec XZ+ and XZA+ variants which gets some much needed feature additions to fend off competition.
4. Octavia RS245
The last hurray for the current-gen Octavia, the Octavia RS245 packs the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the RS230 but now produces 245PS! Visually, the car remains the same and Skoda claims it is the most hardcore version of the Octavia yet. Sadly, it is limited to just 200 units for our market and costs a whopping Rs10 lakh over RS230, at Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom).
5. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-door coupe
This was the fastest car that was showcased at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo. Furthermore, it was also launched at a starting price of Rs 2.42 crore (ex-showroom India). Sitting under that long bonnet is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that puts out a massive 639PS of power and 900Nm of torque to all four wheels. We still can't get our head around the fact that it can hit a top speed 315kmph while carrying four passengers and a boot full of luggage!
