As the world braces itself against the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Indian automotive industry has continued to chug along in the past seven days. It kicked off with Hyundai launching its next-gen Creta SUV, followed by the launch of the Renault BS6 Duster, Volkswagen T-ROC, Dzire Facelift and Eeco BS6 S-CNG. Here’s a closer look:
2020 Hyundai Creta Launch
After making its debut at Auto Expo 2020 in February, Hyundai has finally launched the next-gen Creta with prices starting from Rs 9.99 lakh all the way up to Rs 17.20 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in five variants: E, EX, S, SX and SX (O). It comes with three powertrain options: a diesel, a petrol and a turbo-petrol. Volkswagen T-ROC India Launch
Another vehicle that made its debut at Auto Expo 2020 has launched in India in the form of the Volkswagen T-ROC with a price tag of Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It has been brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is offered in a single variant. Under the hood is a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine producing 150PS/250Nm. Renault BS6 Duster Facelift Launch
Renault silently launched the BS6-compliant Duster facelift with prices starting from Rs 8.49 lakh. With this update, the 1.5-litre petrol is retained, however the 1.5-litre engine has been discontinued. As a result, a new top-spec RXZ variant has been introduced for the petrol variant at a price tag of Rs 9.99 lakh. More sacrifices have been made with this BS6 upgrade that you can read about here.
Maruti Suzuki Eeco BS6 S-CNG Launch
Maruti Suzuki has launched its fourth BS6 CNG vehicle in the form of the Eeco priced from Rs 4.64 lakh to Rs 5.06 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes both the petrol and CNG variants of the Eeco BS6 compliant. It is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit that develops 74PS and 98Nm. It is available in four trims. 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Facelift Launch
Rounding off the week is the launch of the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift with prices starting from Rs 5.89 lakh to Rs 8.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The price hike ranges from Rs 6,000 to Rs 21,000 depending on the variant. It gets minor cosmetic updates and a new 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or AGS automated manual transmission.
