We’ll be honest here: in comparison to other weeks, this week was slow. Most of it is due to the nationwide lockdown and the global war against the newfound pathogen that has spread like wildfire. Without getting bogged down, we’ll move on to the highlights. Kicking things off is the new KUV100 BS6 which was launched in India a couple of days ago. We also saw the global reveal of the India-bound Audi A3 while the upcoming 2020 Honda City’s cabin was also spied. Meanwhile, rumours have surfaced about Tata’s sub-4m SUV and we also found out the launch timeline for the MG Gloster.
Mahindra KUV100 BS6 Launched in India
Mahindra’s micro SUV in its BS6 attire is only offered with the 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Prices start from Rs 5.54 lakh and go all the way up till Rs 7.15 lakh (ex-showroom). This also means that you have to pay a small premium for all the four variants: K2+, K4+, K6+, and K8. The petrol engine now puts out 82PS of power and 115Nm of torque while the diesel has not been updated. More details about the KUV100 this way.
Tata’s Answer To Maruti Suzuki Dzire
It is not news that Tata is working on a new sub-4m sedan. Now a report claims that it will be called the Goshaq. Underpinned by the ALFA Arc platform, it is expected to borrow design cues from the Altroz. Technical details are under wraps but we do know what to expect from the upcoming sedan. Only time will reveal if the sedan is a standalone premium sedan or successor to the Tigor.
India-Bound 2021 Audi A3 Breaks Cover
The new A3 is a major step up from the outgoing model. And we quite like Audi’s new design philosophy and cabin design. The sedan is also longer, wider, taller and cleaner than before. Under the hood is a 1.5-litre TSI or TDI engine. The former can also be opted with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Head here for more insight on India launch time and expected pricing.
2020 Honda City’s Cabin Spied
The 2020 Honda City base variant’s cabin has been spied, revealing more details ahead of the launch in the coming months. From the spy shots, it is visible that even the base variant is decently loaded. Under the hood will be a 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol engine will develop 121PS while the diesel engine is expected to produce 100PS.
MG Will Launch The Gloster As Per Plan
Despite the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown, MG is on track for the launch of Gloster in October. The Endeavour rival is expected to be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that develops 220PS and 480Nm. The SUV was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and one thing it has got in loads is presence. Being an MG, expect some nifty features and an aggressive price tag as well.
Coronavirus Update
The numbers don't show signs of recovery, but industries around the world are gearing up with protective equipment and sanitation as they prepare to resume production. In India, the Union government has issued new standard operating procedures to states. Carmakers continue to make protective equipment, but can the guidelines help them recover?
