This week gave us immense hope for the next year. With major launches and policy changes, 2020 will see an influx of numerous new and upgraded cars. While Skoda is readying five cars for India, it has a brand new all-electric SUV planned for the rest of the world. We couldn’t be happier to know that Tata is going to retain ownership of Jaguar and Land Rover. While the Indian car scene was on a simmer this week, the international market was boiling with anticipation, with the all-new Yaris hatch and desirable Toyota Rise SUV being teased just ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show. Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? Here’s all the other news you missed last week:
Mercedes G 350 d Launched
Mercedes-Benz launched the diesel version of the G-Class SUV, polarizing the G’s fan base across the country. The new diesel is a tad less expensive than its sole stablemate, the G63 AMG. Can the oil-burner win more hearts than the mighty twin-turbo V8 model? Click here to find out.
Kia’s Roadmap Revealed
Kia Motors wants to launch a new car every 6-8 months, and now we know the Carnival is coming next. Besides the MPV, Kia has indicated the subsequent launch of a compact SUV. Does that mean we’ll have another Venue success story next year? Find out.
Maruti XL5 Spied
We know that Maruti Suzuki is testing an all-new Wagon R iteration, which will probably be sold through Nexa dealerships. The company will finally pack in a comprehensive list of equipment to make the XL5 a proper Nexa car. Want to know all about the upcoming model? Click here.
Skoda Models Teased
For a change from the onslaught of spy shots, Skoda gave us sketches instead. The upcoming 2020 Octavia and the 2020 Rapid sketches put Skoda’s new design language on display. To know all about Skoda’s upcoming cars, click here.
Upcoming Honda City Spied
If Indians didn’t love their Honda City, it wouldn’t have been one of the best-selling mid-size sedans in the country. That’s why Honda is prepping the next-gen City, which was spied testing with a full suit of camouflage. The facelift will give it a fresh face for 2020, and new features are expected to bring it at par with the upcoming Hyundai Verna. We can’t wait to see the new Jazz at the Tokyo Motor Show, which will showcase the new drivetrains that the City will bring to India. See for yourself what the new City promises.
Bonus Round:
Tata Nexon Facelift Spied
We see glimpses of the Tata Nexon facelift in spy shots, but we finally have an image of the face. We’ll see the final design at the Auto Expo 2020, but here’s a look at what we know about the upcoming Nexon.
Hyundai i20 Active Spotted
We saw the next-generation i20 Active for the first time last week, and it appears to be bigger and wider than before. It is likely to come with different engines, too. Check it out here.
