The much awaited 2019 Ford Endeavour might have been the only launch this week, but there was a lot of action as we got to drive the all-new Civic which makes its comeback in India on March 7. Another piece of exciting news came from Maruti Suzuki, as its next-gen Alto was caught testing for the first time. Meanwhile, Tata Motors confirmed that its 45X-based premium hatchback will be called the Altroz and will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. Here are the top five car news stories from the week.
2019 Ford Endeavour Launched; Gets a Price Cut
The mighty Endeavour has got an upgrade for 2019, and now it’s available in three variants with prices starting at Rs 28.19 lakh for the all-new base Titanium manual variant with a 2.2-litre diesel engine and going up to Rs 32.97 lakh (both ex-showroom) for the 3.2-litre automatic variant. Yes, the Endy now gets the option of a manual gearbox and couple of additional features too. Moreover, the carmaker has also slashed the prices of the existing variants as well. Honda Civic Launch Date Confirmed
Making a comeback after a six year hiatus, the Honda Civic will be launched in India on March 7. To be available in three trims along with a diesel option for the first time ever the Civic is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against the Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis and bookings are underway for a token amount of Rs 31,000. Here are all the details.
Tata’s 45X-based Premium Hatchback is Called Altroz
The Tata 45X concept-based premium hatchback, which is set for its official unveil at the Geneva Motor Show in March, will be known as Altroz. The Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 rival is expected to be launched in India in June 2019. Expect the 45X to come loaded with a host of safety features and creature comforts along with a highly competitive price tag. Head here for details.
Next-gen Maruti Alto Spied Testing
A test mule of the next generation of Maruti’s all-time bestseller Alto has been spied caught testing. Likely to be underpinned by Suzuki's Heartect A platform like the new WagonR, the new Alto should be lighter and safer than the current generation model, which would have to be phased out after the new crash safety norms come into effect from October 2019. The new Alto is expected to be larger in size and offer more space on the inside as well. Here’s what it looks like.
Skoda Cars Now Available with 6-Year Warranty
Skoda is now offering a 6-year warranty as well as other benefits on all its cars. Called the Shield Plus package, customers will now be able to opt for an extended warranty for the fifth and sixth year. The Shield Plus package also includes an extended coverage till the 6th year or 1,50,000km, whichever is earlier. It also includes first year comprehensive motor insurance, three years of third-party coverage as well as 24x7 roadside assistance for the last two years. Customers who already opted for Skoda’s 4-year extended warranty package can also opt for Shield Plus, the company added. Check out the link for more details.
