While the spotlight for the Indian auto industry this week was mostly on the launch of the third-generation Hyundai i20, there were a lot of other topics that made headlines in the first week of November. Here’s more about what happened this week:
Hyundai i20 Launch
Hyundai finally launched the hotly anticipated third-generation i20. The Japanese carmaker’s premium hatchback is priced from Rs 6.80 lakh to Rs 11.18 lakh and gets three engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. Nissan Magnite Specs Revealed
Nissan is doing all it can to get out of the rough patch it is currently in in the Indian market. The upcoming sub-4m SUV, the Magnite, could prove to be a ray of hope. Mahindra Thar Deliveries Underway
The second-gen Mahindra Thar has created a lot of buzz since it was first revealed on August 15. Mahindra has claimed that the Thar has seen some impressive numbers being put up in terms of bookings and enquiries. Deliveries for the renewed icon are now underway and Mahndra is also planning to cut down its long waiting period. Head here for more details.
Tata Harrier Goes Green
Tata’s Harrier gets a new Camo Edition with a cool olive green paint job. It is the latest special edition to be offered with the Harrier since the stealthy Dark Edition. A Couple Of Spicy German SUVs
This week also saw two German carmakers launch some sporty four-wheelers. Mercedes-AMG launched the first AMG model to be assembled in India, the GLC 43 Coupe. It gets most of the updates from the facelifted model along with AMG flair which you can read more about here. BMW on the other hand launched the X3 M which gets a top speed of 250 kmph and can go from 0-100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds. It is powered by a straight-six 3.0-litre which puts out a massive 480PS and 600Nm. Check it out here.
