The world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp has made the global debut of its upcoming motorcycle, the 2017 Glamour 125, which will be sold in 19 different markets. This was the first ever global unveiling of a Hero product, marking the company's next step forward in the international market. As the Hero Glamour is one of the best-selling 125cc motorcycles in India, it is a very important model and the company has taken care of that while giving it a new avatar. So, here we are with the five major updates on the bike which is looking quite promising for the Indian market.
1. Sleeker Design: The all-new design of the bike give it a completely new and fresh look that was much needed in the over a decade-old model. The new and sleeker design looks sportier and the new 'V'-shaped headlamp further makes it sharper. The new enlarged tank fairing, chiselled rear cowl, more contoured seat and new LED tail lamp gives it a dynamic appearance.
2. Improved Engine: The 2017 Hero Glamour gets an all new 125cc engine, indigenously developed at the company's Centre of Innovation & Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This inclined-forward vertical cylinder engine is said to be better compared to the existing horizontal cylinder mill. The new Torque On Demand (TOD) engine is BS-IV compliant and will be continued to offer with both carburetor and fuel injection options. Claims to deliver 27 per cent more power and 6 per cent added torque, the motor produces 11.5PS at 7,500rpm and 11Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. It is further claimed to deliver 3 per cent enhanced fuel efficiency with carburetor and up to 7 per cent with the fuel injection system, as compared to the existing version.
3. i3S Technology: Already being appreciated by customers of the Splendor iSmart and iSmart 110, Hero's patented i3S technology has also been equipped in the new Glamour. It is an idle-stop-start system that automatically shuts down the engine when it remains on idle for around 10 seconds. The bike can be restarted easily by just pulling in the clutch lever. Saving fuel consumption on traffic signals and other conditions, the system helps in returning a better fuel economy, especially in city riding conditions. The system is also switchable, so you can turn it off if you want to.
4. Stylish Alloy Wheels: The most attractive feature of the bike is the stylish, new y-spoke alloys. These new wheels give a sportier appearance to the already well-designed motorcycle.
5. Better Instrument Console: The bike also gets a redesigned instrument console that looks much better than the one on the existing model. The unit comprises of an analog speedometer and a bigger LCD screen showing fuel gauge, trip meter, odometer and mileage. Some telltale lights have also been provided for the other indications.
Another new feature of the 2017 Hero Glamour is the Auto Headlamp On (AHO) that has been introduced as a safety feature. The other mechanicals, such as the front telescopic forks, twin rear shocks and the optional front disc brake, meanwhile, remains untouched. Availability of the new model is expected to be announced in March or April 2017.
