Several manufacturers in the automotive industry are developing new products that make use of electric energy to power their machines. One such manufacturer, Tork Motors, based in Pune, with extensive research and development of no less than seven years, has come up with India’s first premium electric motorcycle. Christened the ‘T6X’, the motorcycle has been indigenously built by Tork Motors and developed on the race track. The T6X is possibly one of the biggest steps towards future mobility for the smart modern urban commuter of India.
At a first glance, the T6X can be mistaken by anyone for a normal motorcycle on the road. Give it a good look, and you will notice its edgy and futuristic styling combined with an aggressive stance. Being an electric motorcycle, the motor is the only moving part which leads to least possible corrosion, wear and tear and sound or vibration when ridden, as claimed by Tork. The T6X draws it power from lithium-ion batteries. Tork Motors claims that the motorcycle has been engineered to travel at a top speed of 100kmph and offers a range of 100 km on a single charge, which is very good for a premium commuter. Provision has also been made for fast charging of the battery wherein 80 percent of the battery can be charged in an hour and full in two hours. Batteries being the most expensive component in an electric vehicle, the company claims that the battery life of the T6X can last up to approximately 80,000 to 1,00,000 km, which an another notable highlight for the product.
Commenting on the unveil of the Tork T6X, Kapil Shelke, founder and director, Tork Motors Pvt Ltd said: “Investments in smart technology, our racing pedigree and experience with electric vehicles has enabled us to refine and enhance our overall value proposition with the T6X. T6X drive train has been designed to perfection that will feature 27NM of torque, weighs less than 130 kgs coupled with tailor-made components to appeal to the urban design sensibilities while delivering the sheer thrill of driving. Powering the T6X is our signature TIROS intelligence system which will enable the rider to easily switch between customisable ride modes adjusting power delivery. The motorcycle can be tuned anywhere from sporty maverick to comfortable eco-cruiser at the touch of a button. TIROS also updates and incorporates new features automatically via the cloud, making the Tork T6X truly the smartest motorcycle on the road.”
Along with the attractive top speed, range and battery life, the T6X comes with a long list of features that is bound to grabs the attention of any tech-savvy buyer. The motorcycle comes with various features that are a segment-first, such as on-board navigation, storage, cloud connectivity and a full digital display. By installing the Tork’s app in a smartphone, one can communicate with the motorcycle to receive updates regarding the vehicles health, range, service alerts and customised riding profiles. The T6X also features the company’s signature TIROS (Tork Intuitive Response Operating System) that manages the power of the motorcycle. Apart from these features, the T6X comes with several safety features like ABS, CDS, anti-theft, geo-fencing and Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) to name a few.
The Tork T6X will be initially introduced in the Pune, Bangalore and Delhi markets under phase 1. The motorcycle can now be pre-booked with three colour options and is available with at a promotional sticker price of Rs. 1.25 lakh (company selling price). For the targeted markets, the company is working towards building a robust charging infrastructure. Currently, the company has successfully set up six charging points in Pune and aims to take the count to 100 by the end of the year.
