The Toyota Glanza And Urban Cruiser Get Dearer

Toyota India has hiked the prices of the Glanza and Yaris in the country due to rising input costs caused by the weak exchange rate. In fact, a Toyota spokesperson has said that “TKM announces the realignment of prices across our models with a hike between 1 and 2 per cent. The increase in price is effective from June 1, 2020.” Here are the latest prices of both models:

Prices of the Glanza have been hiked by up to Rs 26,000 depending on the variant. The G mild-hybrid manual variant is the most affected while the G MT and CVT variants have received the least hike. Other than the G mild-hybrid variant, all other variants of the Glanza are priced on par with the Baleno. This particular variant costs Rs 41,000 less compared to the Baleno Zeta priced at Rs 7.89 lakh. Head here to see the Baleno’s price list and specifications. The Glanza still comes with two petrol engine options: a 83PS 1.2-litre K12B unit and a 90PS 1.2-litre Dualjet engine. The latter is also offered with a mild-hybrid system which aids torque assist and features start-stop function for fuel efficiency.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Yaris has received a steep price hike of Rs 1.68 lakh depending on the variant. The mid-spec J MT variant is the most affected while the V Optional variant has seen a marginal increase of Rs 1,000. The Yaris continues to utilise Toyota’s 107PS 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT.
The Toyota Glanza locks horns with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Hyundai Elite i20 while the Yaris rivals the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, VW Vento, and the upcoming 2020 Honda City. What do you think about the latest price hike? Let us know in the comments below.
