Race inspired design hasn’t really been an intrinsic part of Toyota’s DNA for India over the years. However looking to stir up some excitement prior to its inaugural Etios Motor Racing Trophy season scheduled for 2013, the mass market car manufacturer with affirmative inputs from its motorsport division TRD has now launched a sportier version of its well to do Liva hatchback model.
The arrival of the Limited Edition ‘Liva TRD Sportivo’ marks the First Anniversary celebration for the tiny Toyota (Read: Toyota Etios/ Liva Diesel Road Test), and to keep things exclusive the Japanese car maker will sell just 1,200 units of the vehicle till October 2012. The Limited Edition has been designed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD), Japan and capes an overall look and feel that should attract an increasing number of younger car buyers in the country.
It includes a front bumper spoiler, an aerodynamic side skirt, two-tone rear bumper spoiler and a roof spoiler designed by TRD, Japan. Also included in the SE Liva model are 15” smoked alloy wheels with a “Gun-Metal” finish and body side graphics that enhances its overall exterior appeal. The special ‘TRD Sportivo’ badging can be seen all around the vehicle starting with the boot lid on outside, to the seat fabric and the silver gear shift knob on the inside.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director, TKM, said “We are glad to introduce Liva TRD Sportivo Limited Edition, on the occasion of the first anniversary of Etios Liva. Etios and Etios Liva have been doing well and our vision, to see growing number of Toyota happy customers and Toyota families, is beginning to materialize."
Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, TKM added “TKM has undertaken many active steps to cater to the youthful market and this is just one such initiative to further our efforts.”
The sporty looking Liva is priced at Rs 5.23 lakh (Ex showroom Delhi) for the Petrol model and Rs 6.32 lakh (Ex showroom Delhi) for the Diesel version. It is available in two exclusive colours - White and Ultramarine Blue. Toyota is hopeful that the Liva TRD Sportivo Limited Edition along with its remaining product range will offer our customers a waku doki Toyota experience.
