As we count down to the official debut of Toyota’s new sub-compact SUV, the Raize (Rise), in early November, more and more details are getting leaked. This time, we have a glimpse inside the new compact SUV thanks to a leaked brochure that has surfaced on the Internet revealing some nifty safety features onboard the Raize. So if you’ve been waiting to find out what the interior of the new Toyota will look like, here’s a detailed look. As we reported earlier, Toyota is yet to officially announce the Raize SUV for India, but do we really need more reasons than its RAV4 resemblance and its sub-4m length?
The interior image finally reveals that the cabin looks near identical to the Daihatsu Rocky thanks to their shared platform. The only difference between the two is the badging. A closer look inside reveals what looks like a digital instrument cluster on the Raize. Other interior highlights include silver inserts, a floating touchscreen, and driver-tilted aircon vents. The boot space is measured at 369 litres.
The brochure also discloses a few snippets of the safety features in the form of ‘Smart Assist’. Safety equipment includes collision warning, blindspot monitor, automatic high beam, brake control, and lane departure warning. It will also get Adaptive Cruise Control and panorama park assist.
We already know that the Toyota Raize will feature a Toyota-like front-end design, with its headlamp design, and rear-end design being similar to the Daihatsu Rocky. Its dimensions are also expected to be similar to the Rocky.
Under the hood, the Toyota Raize is likely to be powered by a 996cc petrol engine that produces 98PS of power and 140Nm of torque, mated to a CVT transmission. It could also be offered with a four-wheel drivetrain. In its India-specification, the Raize could get Maruti Suzuki engines, considering the joint venture between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki.
Toyota’s new sub-compact SUV is expected to make its debut in a matter of days, with an India launch possibly in 2020. Post its launch in India, expect the Raize to be a strong rival from Toyota against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 in the Indian sub-compact SUV segment.
