Don’t you just love it when we you get all the details about the car you’re looking for ahead of time? We say that ‘cause, with only one day left for Toyota’s new sub-compact SUV, the Raize (Rise), another set of details has been leaked on the web. The newest details of the Toyota Raize chart out the trim levels offered, colour options, fuel economy figures as well as the price range of the SUV. However, the SUV is still a fair way away from coming to India. When it does, though, it will go up against the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata’s Nexon. The soonest we could expect to see it here is next year. Here’s a closer look to reward your patience.
Going into the variant trim levels, the leaked image reveals that the Raize will be offered in four trims:- X, XS, G and Z. The leaked brochure also confirms that Toyota will be offering the sub-compact SUV with 2WD and 4WD options for all its variants. In addition to this, its fuel efficiency figures have been leaked: 18.6 kmpl for the 2WD and 17.4kmpl for the 4WD. Here’s a look at the price range for the Raize in Japan:

Colour options of the Raize will consist of Shining White Pearl, Black Mica Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Fire Quartz Red Metallic, Natural Beige Mica Metallic, Mustard Yellow Mica Metallic, Laser Blue Crystal Shine and Turquoise Blue Mica Metallic. It will also get Silver/Black, White/Black and Turquoise Blue/Black dual-tone options, making it a total of 11 colour options.
We already know that it will be powered by a 996cc petrol engine that produces 98PS of power and 140Nm of torque, mated to a CVT transmission. However, in its Indian specification, the Raize could get Maruti Suzuki engines thanks to the joint venture between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki.
On the outside, the Toyota Raize will feature a Toyota-like front-end design, with its headlamp design, rear-end design and dimensions being similar to the Daihatsu Rocky. Aside from badging, It will also be near-identical to the Rocky inside because of their shared platform. It gets nifty features like silver inserts, a floating touchscreen, driver-tilted aircon vents and 369 litres of boot space.
Expected safety kit consists of ‘Smart Assist,’ which includes collision warning, blindspot monitor, automatic high beam, brake control, and lane departure warning. It also gets Adaptive Cruise Control and panorama park assist.
Post its international debut tomorrow, expect an India launch in 2020. Aside from the Raize, Toyota is also planning a bigger compact SUV, the Rush, as well as a mid-size MPV, the Avanza.
