BMW Motorrad and Harley-Davidson India are being touted as the next likely destinations for Sumbly

Vimal Sumbly

Vimal Sumbly has stepped down from his position of MD at Triumph Motorcycles India after serving the brand for five years. He will be succeeded by Shoeb Farooq, who has been handling Triumph India's sales and dealer development.

In his five year stint, Sumbly was responsible for establishing the British brand in India and leading its commercial growth and development. Under his leadership, the brand grew to become one of the largest motorcycling brands in India.

During his time at Triumph India, Sumbly introduced some of the British bikemaker’s popular offerings in the country, such as the Tiger Series, the Bonneville Bobber, Thruxton R and not to forget, the Street Triple RS. He also helped in strengthening the Triumph customer community by organising rides like Tiger Trails, Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and more.

Prior to Triumph, Sumbly worked with Bajaj Auto for more than eight years. There, he helped in establishing KTM’s Pro Biking and sales & service setup across India. He was also instrumental in setting up the recent Bajaj-Triumph partnership.

So far, it is not clear what his next destination might be. However, considering Vikram Pawah's departure from BMW India, BMW Motorrad India may be one of the likely options. It is also being widely speculated that Sumbly might head to Harley-Davidson India. With the bikemaker recently announcing its intention of focusing on the Indian and Asian market, with a sub-500cc motorcycle, who better to lead the charge than Sumbly?
