Triumph will be launching its Bonneville T100 Black and T120 Black here in India on June 12th. The British bike maker has teased the bikes on its social media page with the hashtag “Black Icons,” indicating more than one motorcycle. Triumph has already updated its Bonneville range to comply with BS6 norms. The two new bikes will be BS6 compliant as well. Overseas, the Black edition bikes have the same price as their standard counterparts. We expect the Triumph India to use the same pricing strategy. The Bonneville T100 Black could be priced the same Rs 8.87 lakh and T120 Black to cost Rs 9.97 lakh (both prices ex-showroom pan India).
Both bikes are blacked out variants of the Bonneville T100 and T120 classic motorcycles. They come with a black paint job and instead of a chrome finish, feature blacked out powertrain, suspension components and spoke wheels. Overseas, the bikes get two paint finish options: Jet Black and Matte Jet Black. The T120 Black also gets a dark brown seat.
The bikes get just cosmetic updates, while powertrain and underpinnings remain unchanged. The T100 Black gets a 900cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that delivers 55PS and 76.73Nm. Its larger T120 Black cousin gets a 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel twin motor that puts out 80PS and 105Nm. Both get ride-by-wire and traction control, with the T120 Black getting two riding modes. They also get a six-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.
Both use a tubular steel cradle frame with KYB 41mm telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers. The larger T120 Black gets more premium cartridge type forks. Both bikes use the same size spoke wheels wrapped in 100/90-18 front and 150/70 R17 rear tyres. For braking, the T120 Black uses a single 310mm disc with Nissin 2-piston calipers and a 255mm rear disc. Its larger cousin uses twin 310mm discs with Nissin 2-piston calipers and a 255mm disc. Both get dual-channel ABS.
After launching the Bonneville T100 Black and T120 Black, Triumph will bring the all-new Tiger 900 and Street Triple R to our shores.
