Triumph India is all set to announce the pricing of its most hardcore scrambler, the Scrambler 1200 XC tomorrow at 3:00pm. We have already ridden the mad off-roader through some challenging, scenic trails of Himachal Pradesh, so do stay tuned for our first ride review.
Triumph sells two variants of the Scrambler 1200 abroad: the XC and the XE, but the British bikemaker will be offering only the XC in India. It makes sense as the XE's pricing would result in the cannibalization of Triumph’s own Tiger range. Although it does not have any natural rival, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC will go up against the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, as the two are the true-blue representations of the genre.
Powering the Scrambler 1200 is a Thruxton-derived 1200cc parallel-twin engine but it gets its own ‘Scrambler’ tune which belts out 90PS and 110Nm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed transmission with slip assist clutch. There are five riding modes on offer as standard along with switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS. Other notable features include a full-LED lighting system and TFT colour instrument cluster with a 5-way joystick on the switchgear.
The motorcycle rides on Showa inverted fork and twin Ohlins shock absorbers - both fully adjustable. It comes to a halt using twin 320mm discs up front and a 255mm disc at the rear. Head here for more details about the upcoming motorcycle.
