Triumph Motorcycles India commemorated World Motorcycle Day by taking part in MotoDay 2016, held on the 18th and 19th of June at Lavasa near Pune. The biking event, conducted by MotoDreamz, is now in its third year and Triumph used the stage to take the wraps off a special custom Bonneville Street Twin.
Part of the “Inspiration Kits” that Triumph is offering with its new range of Bonneville street bikes, the Scrambler Kit adds on a raised exhaust and becomes narrow at the rear, features more in line with scrambler motorcycles. The purely cosmetic kit means that motive power still remains the same: the new 900cc ‘high torque’ parallel twin engine which can churn out 55PS of power and 80Nm of torque, paired to a six-speed gearbox. No word on how much the Scrambler Kit will cost, although the standard Bonneville Twin retails for Rs 6.90 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
Triumph also showcased the newly launched Thruxton R cafe racer at MotoDay 2016. The third model in the new Bonneville range after the Street Twin and Bonneville T120, the Thruxton R was launched at Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in the beginning of this month.
Speaking on the occasion, Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India said, “MotoDay 2016 has been a fantastic platform to celebrate the love of riding, making it a level playing field for all motorcycle lovers. Motorcycling, that fuses fun, freedom and adventure, is the ultimate equalizer and it was amazing to see the passion with which the biking community has come together under one roof. The overwhelming response from the riders and motorcycle enthusiasts has made us upbeat about the times to come.”
“MotoDay is an excellent platform for rider from across brands to join in and celebrate this memorable day together. We are extremely happy with Triumph and our association and look forward to similar rider focused events in the near future.” Neeraj Athalye, Co-Founder, MotoDreamz, added.
Held at the Lavasa Convention Centre for the third consecutive year, MotoDay 2016 witnessed a turnout of over 2,000 bikers for two days of biking-themed fun activities.
