It could use the same motor as the current Speed Triple 1200 RS
Out of the blue, Triumph has teased a new prototype with the Speed Triple 1200 RR badge. Here’s what we can decipher from the trailer:
Sporting a half fairing, the Speed Triple 1200 RR prototype could be based on the naked Speed Triple 1200 RS. The clip-on handlebars are rather raised, hinting at a road use bike rather than an outlaw track tool.

The video also reveals a single piece headlight neatly housed in the fairing, resembling a certain Italian beauty. Apart from that, the Speed Triple 1200 RR gets a rear seat cowl, albeit with pillion footpegs. The rider seat gets contrast stitching for aesthetics.
The upcoming Triumph bike could be powered by the Speed Triple 1200 RS’s 1160cc liquid-cooled inline-triple motor. It dishes out 180PS and 125Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The electronics package may be carried over from the streetfighter sibling.
The underpinnings too could be borrowed. The teaser shows the prototype model suspended on a USD fork with large dual discs at the front.
The URL of Triumph’s official site with the teaser images states ‘my22’ and ‘2022’, meaning the production-spec Speed Triple 1200 RR should soon be out in all its glory.
