The Triumph Street Triple RS got a mild update last year with a new look and a slightly gruntier engine, among other things. The new bike has finally been launched in India, and despite the improvements, it still carries the same Rs 11.13 lakh price tag. But if the quickest Trumpet of them all isn’t to your liking, here’s what else you can get for a similar amount of cash:
BMW F 750 GS
The Triple is a great weapon on a windy road, but what if you want to abandon roads altogether? Well, the BMW F 750 GS offers a competent adventure tourer option at the Rs 11.95 lakh mark. However, we must keep in mind that this is currently a BS4 bike, with a BS6 update yet to arrive. Expect that to happen soon after the lockdown lifts, along with a slight increase in price.
Harley-Davidson Forty Eight Special
If you’re looking to pick up a bike right now, how about the Harley-Davidson Forty Eight Special? A true-blue American hot-rod powered by a big, shouty 1,200cc V-twin. All yours for just Rs 10.98 lakh in BS6-compliant form, and HD dealers are even accepting phone bookings amidst the lockdown!
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R
The only real 600cc supersport that you can get in India, the Ninja ZX-6R wowed us with its performance and handling capabilities when we tested it last year. Once again, this is a BS4 model at the moment, priced at Rs 10.49 lakh, but with the 600cc sportsbike class seeing something of a resurgence at the moment, expect a BS6 update to arrive soon.
Triumph Speedmaster
At the opposite end of Harley’s shouty America approach to cruisers sits Triumph with its gorgeous Bonneville Speedmaster. Based on the even sexier single-seat Bonneville Bobber, this baby allows you to carry your baby on the back, and can be all yours for Rs 11.34 lakh. Did we mention it’s BS6-compliant too?
Yamaha MT-09
As a middleweight naked streetfighter, the Yamaha MT-09 is the only bike on this list that acts as a genuine competitor to the Street Triple. It belts out a similar symphony to the Brit thanks to its very own inline triple, and can prove to be quite a hooligan when you want it to. The BS4 version was priced at Rs 10.55 lakh, so the upcoming BS6 update could be priced a little closer to the Triumph.
