Triumph Motorcycles launched the new Tiger 800 XR in the Indian two-wheeler market. The Tiger 800 XR has been priced at Rs 10.5 lakh (ex showroom Delhi). At this pricing, the Triumph Tiger 800 XR is the cheapest adventure motorcycle from the stables of the British bikemaker. The styling of the bike is similar to the Tiger XRx and XCx which are already on sale and have been priced at Rs 11.6 lakh and Rs12.7 lakh respectively (ex showroom Delhi). The Triumph Tiger 800 XR will be locally assembled in India.
Powering the Tiger 800 XR is the second generation, 95PS 800cc triple motor. The new powerplant offers better performance and is also 17 per cent more fuel efficient than its predecessor. The motorcycle also features Ride by Wire technology for smoother power delivery and lighter throttle response. Talking about electronic goodies, the new Triumph Tiger 800 XR gets switchable traction control as standard fitment. Triumph’s Traction Control (TTC) system prevents the unexpected spinning of the rear wheel, cutting the engine torque and thereby safeguarding the rider. Switchable ABS system is also standard on all Tiger 800 models. Riding ergonomics have been improved with adjustable seat height giving 20mm of adjustability.
Speaking about the launch, Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India said, “We are extremely happy to announce the launch of the new Tiger XR in just three months from the launch of the Tiger XRx and XCx, which have received tremendous positive response from our esteemed customers in the country. To give an excellent value proposition, the new Tiger XR will be assembled locally through the CKD route in India. Whatever be the road, whatever be the distance and whatever be the challenge, the new Tiger XR has been built to excel!”
With the launch of new Tiger XR the British bikemaker will boast four adventure motorcycles within the category and total product portfolio expands to 14 motorcycles. Triumph Motorcycles currently has 11 dealerships in India and the 12th dealership will be built in Jaipur soon. The new Triumph Tiger 800 XR comes with an unlimited mileage, two-year factory warranty.
