The old Rocket 3 had the largest production engine ever fitted to a motorcycle: a 2300cc inline three-cylinder engine. While the engine architecture remains the same, the displacement it packs has gone up to 2,500cc. As a result, the Rocket 3 now churns out 167PS and 221Nm! Thankfully, there is a gamut of electronic aids on board to keep both wheels sticking to the tarmac.

An all-new aluminium frame is suspended at both ends by Showa units which are fully adjustable. Braking hardware is supplied by Brembo as the Rocket 3 gets the top-of-the-line Stylema monobloc calipers. Overall, Triumph has managed to shed 40kg from the previous model.

Abroad, the Rocket 3 comes in two variants -- R and GT. Of the two, we believe that Triumph will definitely be bringing the laidback cruiser-type GT version to India. The more focused roadster ‘R’ avatar might just be given a miss.
