TVS reportedly plans to launch six electric vehicles within the next two years. And among them could be the production version of the TVS Creon electric scooter concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2018.

The production version, likely to be launched by December this year, will retain the Creon’s sporty genes and be a more performance-oriented alternative to the TVS iQube Electric. Expect the Hosur-based brand to price it at around Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom), factoring in the recent FAME II revisions. The price could be even lower in certain states, thanks to local subsidies.

The sporty electric scooter could have a range of around 80-90km. The battery pack could be removable or fixed, with fast-charging capabilities. That said, we hope it is removable as that will minimise the downtime for charging. Otherwise, TVS will have to rely on establishing a widespread charging network to mitigate range anxiety. Expect performance equivalent to that of a 125cc petrol-powered scooter. For perspective, the concept was powered by a 16PS electric motor capable of accelerating from 0-60kmph in 5.1 seconds.

Design-wise, the production version may not be as radical as the concept. But, it’s safe to assume it will look a lot sportier than the boxy TVS iQube Electric. And, as expected from a modern electric scooter, it could feature a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, all-LED lighting, and a generous underseat storage.

The TVS Creon will help the company to establish itself in the premium electric scooter segment. It will go up against the Ather 450X, which currently is the most performance-oriented, feature-packed electric scooter in the country.
