TVS Racing has stacked up its trophy cabinet once again, with the conclusion of Raid de Himalaya. TVS Racing Team Rider, Wahid Tanveer secured the 1st position, while R Nataraj finished at the 2nd position in the Group A category. In the Group B category, Rajendra RE and Imran Pasha secured 1st and 2nd positions respectively. In the Ladies Class category, Aishwarya Pissay, the only woman rider for TVS, finished 4th. A total of seven riders from TVS Racing participated in four different categories including Group A (up to 450cc), Group B (up to 250cc), Ladies class and Scooter class.
The six-day rally action saw riders battle it out in extreme weather conditions and difficult terrains; something that can put anyone’s mettle to test. The 19th edition of Raid de Himalaya was conducted at an altitude of 2000m to 5500m and was spread across 1100km. The participants had to pass through world’s highest mountain passes, Shingo la (5081m), Barlach la (4890m), Taglang la (5328m) and Khardung la (53369m). As expected, the high altitude and a freezing temperature of -15 degrees further added to the mental fatigue of the riders. Hence, it wasn’t surprising when only 15 bikes out of 52 finished the event this year.
Commenting on the victory, B Selvaraj, Team Manager, TVS Racing said, “I am exhilarated with the performance of the team at the event. Our preparations and training helped us dominate the rally as our team was over an hour ahead of the nearest competition. The Raid rally has immense learnings not just for the riders but also the support crew team, who played a crucial role in these victories.”
