TVS has updated almost all of its scooters and motorcycles to meet BS6 emission norms. While the manufacturer will soon launch the Zest 110 BS6, the Wego will be discontinued. The 110cc scooter has been taken off the company’s official website. TVS will, however, continue to manufacture the Wego and sell it in select export markets.
The Wego has been on sale for the past ten years, having been launched in 2010. It was a premium alternative to the Scooty Pep and offered more space, features and a larger, more powerful 110cc motor. TVS launched the Jupiter in 2013 followed by the Scooty Zest 110. The arrival of the two 110cc scooters meant the Wego was effectively in no man’s land, leading to dwindling sales. In fact, in this financial year, the Wego sold just 11,853 scooters compared to the Jupiter’s 5,95,545, the Scooty Pep +’s 90,309 units and the Zest 110’s 55,643 units.

The Wego was a good scooter in terms of styling, performance and features. In fact, it was the only 110cc TVS scooter to get a full-digital instrument console. It came with a BS4-compliant and carburetted 109.7cc motor that delivered 7.99PS at 7500rpm and 8.4Nm at 5500rpm. Its suspension setup consisted of a telescopic fork and a monoshock. The Wego was the first TVS scooter to get body balance technology that offered good handling characteristics. Braking was via an optional 220mm front disc and 130mm rear drum with CBS. The Wego was priced from Rs 53,469 (ex-showroom Delhi). The competitive 110cc scooter segment, superior siblings and the stringent BS6 transition has spelt doom for the TVS Wego.
