UM Motorcycles is all set to expand its cruiser portfolio by riding in the new Renegade Classic and the Renegade Commando Mojave
UM Renegade Classic

UM Motorcycles has sent ZigWheels an invite asking us to block the date for a new motorcycle launch and ride on September 2nd. The two new motorcycles in question are the UM Renegade Classic and the UM Renegade Commando Mojave. ZigWheels readers will remember that the UM Renegade Classic was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and was expected to be launched in 2016 itself. But the launch of the bike has been delayed as UM took a decision to equip the new cruiser bike with ABS, which will make it the first cruiser bike in its segment to feature ABS as an optional extra. UM Renegade Classic

Another interesting feature of the new Renegade Classic is that it will get a fuel injection system instead of a carburettor unit as seen on the current Renegade duo. Powering the motorcycle will be the same 278cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 25PS of power and 22Nm of torque, though we expect the power figures to increase marginally. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The UM Renegade Classic looks similar to the Commando but it gets the addition of windscreen and some chrome parts to give it the quintessential cruiser look. The Renegade Classic competes against the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500.

UM Renegade Commando Mojave

As for the new UM Renegade Commando Mojave, it share its styling cues with the Commando but gets a distinctive sand-coloured shade and leather saddle bags to set it apart from its siblings. Engine, frame, suspension and brakes on the new Renegade Commando Mojave will be similar to the Renegade Commando. Both the motorcycles will be priced under Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom).
