The update promises better power output and more accurate throttle response

US-based cruiser maker UM Motorcycles has updated its two bikes with electronic fuel injection (EFI) technology. Both the Renegade Sports S and Renegade Commando are now BS IV-compliant thanks to the EFI. UM claims the new, updated bikes shall produce higher and consistent power as compared to the earlier variants. However, according to their official site, the output is 25.1PS of power at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. This is essentially the same as the previous generation bikes, at least on paper.

The addition of EFI ensures the bikes have easier cold starts, sharper throttle response and tuning options, apart from cleaner emissions. The Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sports S are a promising alternative to the well-rooted Royal Enfield range. The swanky cruiser-like styling and modern liquid-cooled engine make them an even more compelling option over other budget cruiser motorcycles. The ex-showroom (Delhi) prices of the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sports S are Rs 1.74 lakh and Rs 1.68 lakh respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Mishra, CEO, UM Lohia Two Wheelers said, “We are happy to announce that following the implementation of BS-IV pollution norms in India, both Renegade Commando EFI and Renegade Sports S EFI  fully comply with the stringent pollution norms. Our bikes will now come equipped with fuel injected engines that shall produce extra power for an increased driving pleasure.”
