After all the waiting and the spy shots, Husqvarna finally kicked off its India innings this year, but not without surprises. We expected to receive the venerable 401s, but Husqvarna threw us a curveball by launching the Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250 instead. Fret not, the Swedish brand has more on the cards for 2021. Here’s what you can expect from Husqvarna over the next 12 months:
Svartpilen 200
Expected Price - Rs 1.70 lakh
Expected Launch - Q1
The brand might just go smaller before it goes any bigger. The Svartpilen 200 has been spotted testing quite frequently on the highways outside Pune. The bike is also present on many chapters of Husqvarna’s website worldwide, so its existence is a bit of an open secret. Perhaps the brand wants to make itself a little more accessible and establish itself a little better before bringing in the 401s and demanding that sort of money from buyers.
Needless to say, the Svartpilen 200 is based on the KTM 200 Duke, so it should get the same 25.83PS and 19.5Nm output figures from the 199.5cc liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve single-cylinder engine. We expect a launch in the first half of next year at around the Rs 1.7 lakh mark.
Vitpilen, Svartpilen 401
Expected Price - Rs 2.50 lakh
Expected Launch - Q2
Despite recent rumours stating otherwise, we still think there’s a fairly good chance the Husqvarna 401 twins will make their way over to India in 2021. The fact that the Svartpilen 401 was spotted testing outside Pune just weeks ago only reaffirms this belief, nevertheless, we can’t be 100 percent certain. Perhaps Husqvarna is only manufacturing the 401s for export? If the 401s do launch in India, we expect both the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 to arrive in the latter half of next year, at a price tag of around Rs 2.5 lakh.
