The Magnite is a make it or break it car for Nissan India. It’ll sit in the sub-4 metre SUV segment and lock horns with the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue. The concept made a strong first impression when it was revealed earlier this year. Thankfully, the production-spec model will retain most of the concept’s design elements as seen in this undisguised test mule.
The wrap-around split LED tail lamps, rear bumper, and faux skid plate look similar to the concept. Heck, even the design of the alloy wheels remains unchanged. You can also notice the blue/white dual-tone colour scheme. We expect Nissan to offer more dual-tone options for the Magnite. Earlier, spy shots have revealed the production-spec model’s fascia, which also looks similar to the concept. Thumbs up, Nissan!
The interior of the production-spec Magnite is yet to be seen. But considering the exterior design barely strays away from the concept, we expect the same with the interior. The Magnite concept’s interior features a minimalist layout with a touchscreen infotainment system and chunky climate control knobs. Production-spec versions are also likely to feature a digital instrument display. You can take a closer look at the Magnite concept’s interior here.
In terms of features, Nissan’s sub-4 metre SUV will feature an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with connected car tech, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a first-in-segment 360-degree camera, and cruise control. We also expect it to come with keyless entry with push-button start, a sunroof, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

The Magnite is likely to come with two petrol engine options only. The lower-spec variants could utilise the Triber’s 72PS 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit while the top-spec version could come with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine developing around 100PS. Both engines will be offered with a manual gearbox while the turbo-petrol could also feature a CVT.
The Nissan Magnite is expected to reach showrooms by early-2021 and we expect an aggressive starting price of around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
