Hyundai Silently Updates The i20 Active In India With Wireless Charging

Yes, Hyundai India has done it again. The Korean carmaker has silently refreshed the i20 Active in India with a minor feature and colour addition. Priced from Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the updated i20 Active remains mechanically and cosmetically unchanged. It retains its 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel powertrain options and comes in three variants -- S, SX, SX dual tone. What’s new is the inclusion of wireless charging along with a stardust colour option. Meanwhile, the 2020 i20 Active was spotted testing on our roads with heavy camouflage. It is expected to make its debut sometime late in 2020. Key rivals for the i20 Active are the Ford Freestyle and the Honda WR-V.

The hatchback remains mechanically  similar and is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines. The former makes 83PS and 114Nm of twist while the diesel CRDI unit produces 90PS and 220Nm of torque. The petrol mill is mated to a 5-speed manual while the diesel comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. 

Some features highlights include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, Arkamys sound system, smart key, cooled glovebox, and rear AC vents. As mentioned, with the update, Hyundai has also added wireless charging to the i20 Active. Some safety features on offer include ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, and 4 airbags.

The current colour options on offer are Stardust, Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Marina Blue with white roof (blue inserts for the cabin); Fiery Red, Polar White, Polar White with black roof ( red inserts for the cabin). Earth Brown and Earth Brown with black roof, which also came with brown inserts for the cabin, has now been discontinued. In other news, the next-gen Hyundai i20 has been spied testing abroad, and is expected to make its way into India soon after its global debut.
