The 'micro-SUV' from Mahindra gets a few added features for its first anniversary
The Ignis effect? It does look like it. Mahindra has updated the top-spec K8 variant of its most compact offering - the KUV100. Prices start at Rs 6.37 lakh, which translates into a price hike of Rs 13,000. What do you get for the extra cash?
For starters, it can be had with a black roof if you opt for the Flamboyant Red or the Dazzling Silver colour. Other updates include larger 15-inch wheels and an all-black theme for the interiors. Additionally, the lower K6 and K6+ variants will now sport the older 14-inch wheels. Mahindra is also offering personalisation kits for the interior and the exterior, to help you spruce up your KUV100.
The KUV100 has remained unchanged mechanically, and it continues to sport the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel mFalcon engines. The petrol engine dishes out 83PS and 115Nm, whereas the diesel is good for 78PS and 190Nm. Both engines are paired with a five-speed manual transmission only. Notably, Mahindra is said to be working on a CNG-powered variant of the KUV100, which can be expected to launch soon.
The baby Mahindra went on sale in January last year, and has sold over forty-two thousand units since. Aimed at the youth, the KUV100 briefly became the best-selling vehicle for the Indian auto giant. Sadly, it couldn't continue its initial momentum, with sales plateauing at around the thousand unit mark for the last couple of months of 2016.
