RGNT Motorcycles, an electric motorcycle company from Sweden, has updated its retro electric bike called ‘RGNT No.1 Classic’ to version 1.5. The updated model is priced at 12,495 Euros, around Rs 10.79 lakh. The company commands such an eye-watering premium because the electric motorcycle is hand-built at its factory in Kungsbacka, Sweden.
With boxy design lines, a simple fuel tank, circular headlamp, a long bench seat, and classic spoke wheels, the RGNT No.1 Classic makes us feel this is exactly how an electrified Yamaha RX100 would look like if the Japanese manufacturer ever resurrected the legendary motorcycle in a cutting-edge yet retro avatar.
The RGNT No. 1 gets an updated motor that makes the same 11kW peak power as before (and 9kW continuous power) but features improved windings claimed to offer a 30 percent heat reduction. This, in turn, results in a 30 percent improvement in efficiency, with the 7.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack offering a 110km range on the highway and 160km in the city - both claimed figures.
The front telescopic fork has been updated for better reliability and shock-absorbing characteristics, the brake discs have been upgraded to units from Galfer, and the calipers are from J.Juan. The electric bike gets a proper 7-inch touchscreen instrument cluster with in-built GPS navigation like the one in the Ather 450X. Oh, and the lighting system is from MotoGadget, and it’s all-LED.
All in all, the RGNT No.1 Classic is more of a boutique hand-built product made for riders with deep pockets looking to make a difference with clean, unique-looking electric bikes.
