As reported by us last week, Vespa India expanded its product portfolio by launch two new scooter offerings – The Vespa VXL 150 and the Vespa SXL 150. The new Vespa VXL 150 has been priced at Rs 84,641 and the Vespa SXL 150 carries a sticker price of RS 88,696 (ex-showroom Pune). The new Vespa scooters were launched in the presence of Alessandro Del Piero who was recently announced as the global brand ambassador for the Italian manufacturer. Vespa will also sell the the VXL and the SXL varinats with the old 125cc powerplant. The VXL 125 will cost Rs 77,308 while the SXL 125 has been priced at Rs 81,967. All prices ex-showroom Pune.
Both the new launched have a new powerplant as well. The new Vespa offerings ride on a 150cc 3-valve engine that makes 11.6PS of peak power at 7,000rpm and 11.5Nm of max torque at 5,500rpm. These two scooters will also be offered in a 125cc variant. In this state of tune the motor churns out 10PS at 7,500rpm and torque figure stands at 10.6Nm at 6,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheels via a CVT transmission.
The Vespa VXL and SXL will be available in five colour options. Vespa scooters are marketed as niche products in the Indian two-wheeler with sales of around 2,000 units a month and these two new additions aren’t expected to hike the numbers drastically. Vespa's entry into the 150cc segment scooters opens up a new market for scooters, one that hasn't been explored comprehensively by manufacturers.
