Volkswagen India has launched a mobile application for their upcoming compact sedan, the Ameo. With this application, users will be able to pre-book the Ameo, compare all the variants and check out different images and videos of the car.
The app also has a 360-degree visualizer using which one can view all the different dimensions of the car. Users will also be able to locate the nearest Volkswagen dealership with Google Maps integration, and contact the dealerships through toll-free numbers and email.
The Renault Kwid was the first car in India for which a dedicated mobile application was created and now a lot of manufacturers have started to follow this trend.
Bookings for the Ameo -- based on the Volkswagen Polo platform -- have already started at VW dealerships throughout the country with a token amount of Rs. 10,000. It is expected to be launched by the first half of June this year.
The Ameo’s diesel variants will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 90PS of power along with 230Nm of torque. The petrol variants will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine which churns out 75PS of power along with 110Nm of torque. However, a few recent reports state that the Ameo will be launched only with a 1.2-litre petrol engine initially, as the 1.5-litre diesel engine is currently being updated by the company.
The main USP of the Ameo over its competitors will be its feature-loaded cabin. The top-spec Comfortline variant will have 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-barrel headlamps (different sections for high beam and low beam), fog lamps with cornering function, reverse parking sensors with camera, Miracast enabled touchscreen infotainment system and a few more.
It is expected to be priced just shy of Rs 5 lakh and will compete against the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire and Tata Zest in the compact sedan segment.
