The company aims that by 2040, 70 per cent of the new European market will be made of BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles) and about 20 percent as plug-in EVs. Though VW has many exciting launches down the pipeline, there are no budget launches planned for the Indian market anytime soon. As we know, Skoda is leading the charge for VW Group in India under its “India 2020” initiative. The first all-new model that is expected to be launched under the new strategy will be a  SUV (speculated to be based on the Kamiq) from Skoda, followed by the Volkswagen T-Cross. Later, the group will launch replacements for the Rapid and Vento as well. All these models will have heavy localisation, with Skoda currently working on localising the MQB-A0 platform for India.
