Volkswagen India has made life a little easier for its car owners by reducing the cost of ownership. The German carmaker has cut down the prices of its after sales services and also added some features to improve the overall service experience. That said, only petrol car owners will experience the full benefit.
The prices of spare parts and engine oil, which were otherwise quite steep, have been reduced by up to 11 percent and 32 percent respectively. However, this only applies to engine oil for petrol engines. So VW TDI owners, the price of your car’s engine oil will be the same as before. VW India will also offer benefits of up to 24 percent through its service packages.
Thanks to the reduction in prices, VW says the periodical maintenance cost of the Polo and Vento will be reduced by 25 percent.
The carmaker has taken on some new customer-centric initiatives as well as made changes to old ones. The Volkswagen Assistance and Mobile Service Unit will now see an increase in its fleet. The Mobile Service Unit offers doorstep solutions for small repairs as well as service operations in remote locations. Customers can also use this service to evaluate their vehicle’s health before embarking on a long road trip.
Its new initiative, Volkswagen Service Cam, involves recording the additional repairs required during an inspection. These recordings will then be sent to the customer for approval. They can even access a Service Calculator on the VW India website to get a complete breakdown of the service costs and an estimated bill of repairs.
With after-sales operations now more affordable, Volkswagen seems to be focused on improving its hold on the Indian market. The carmaker is also kicking off its India 2.0 strategy with up to 95 percent localisation in cars such as the upcoming Taigun. Thanks to this, spare parts and service costs for the Taigun, which is expected to launch by August, are expected to be nominal as well. Read more about the Taigun here.
