Volkswagen Polo, Ameo And Vento Sport Edition Launched

Volkswagen has a habit of introducing special editions of its models by giving them subtle cosmetic changes. The latest one to join the list is the ‘Sport’ edition of the Polo, Ameo and Vento. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because VW launched a similar ‘Sport’ variant for the Polo GT twins last year. This time around, the Sport edition gets you an accessory kit which includes a black roof wrap, door stickers and a black spoiler and carbon finish ORVM caps.

The Sport kit is only available for the Highline variant of all the three cars. Prices for the Polo Sport start from Rs 6.93 lakh, while the Ameo and Vento Sport cost Rs 8.30 lakh and Rs 10.70 lakh, respectively. The corresponding Highline variants of each car are priced at Rs 7.14 lakh, Rs 8.71 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh, respectively. Though Volkswagen claims that the Sport Edition is being sold at no extra cost to the buyer, it's actually priced slightly lower than the Highline variant it is based on, which makes their claim technically correct. Also, the Sport edition is available only for a limited time. 

The Polo and Ameo received a major mechanical change recently. Volkswagen has replaced the older 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol motor that made 75PS of power and 110Nm of torque with a modern 1.0-litre engine that makes 76PS and 95Nm. The new engine is claimed to be 12 per cent more fuel efficient than the older unit, returning an ARAI-testes figure of 18.78kmpl as opposed to the larger engine’s 16.47kmpl.

At the launch, Volkswagen also announced its #BeASport campaign where participants will be encouraged to write a slogan for Volkswagen and the winner will be awarded a Sport edition model.
