We loved the Jetta diesel and now VW has just launched the petrol variant of the same. The Jetta TSI (Read : Volkswagen Jetta TSI First Drive) is equipped with 1.4Litre, 4 cylinder TSI engine with a maximum power output of 120 PS @ 5000rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm @1500-4000 rpm with a 6 Speed Gear Box in manual transmission.
TSI is a pioneering technology of petrol engines by Volkswagen. TSI engines are compact, high powered and use less fuel thereby successfully implementing the downsizing concept. The combination of Direct Petrol injection and intake of high compress air with the use of turbocharger not only gives good performance but also reaps rewards in the fuel efficiency department.
While the exteriors are the same as the diesel variant, the interiors are pretty loaded and come equipped with Leatherette seat upholstery Leather package for steering wheel, gear shift knob, hand brake grip, Front center armrest with storage box, Storage compartments on headliner, Rear AC vents for comfort , Lockable and illuminated glove compartment , Multi-function display “Plus” and then some.
On the comfort convenience front too, the Jetta does not disappoint. There is a 8 speaker music system, park distance and the works. On the safety front there is the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), all of 6 airbags and Hill hold control to name a few.
The Jetta is quite an accomplished performer in the ride and handling department and you can read more about the car in our exclusive first drive report.
