About four months back, Volkswagen first gave us a glimpse of the camouflaged T-Roc. A couple of weeks ago, the carmaker then explained the design process for the SUV. Now, the German automaker has released yet another teaser video to ramp up the excitement as we get closer to the official unveil of the compact SUV at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The latest trailer briefly flashes the exterior and interior shots of the SUV. And here's what we could gather from the short video:
- The SUV will mostly flaunt sharp edges and straight lines instead of curves
- Colour-matched accents will run across the entire length of the dashboard and stretch over to the door panels bringing over the exterior hue inside the cabin
- The rear end will have a sharper rake angle compared to traditional SUVs, which will give it a sleek side profile and an aerodynamic advantage
- The LED tail lamps stretch from the sides onto the boot lid
- The SUV gets machined 10-spoke alloy wheels to go with the modern looks
- A double-barrel projector headlamp setup will grace the face, possibly with LED beams
The T-Roc may also get the Audi-esque 'virtual cockpit' with colour LCD instrument cluster. Engine options are likely to include a 1.4-litre TSI and a 2.0-litre TDI paired with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. If the compact SUV makes it to India, it will mainly rival the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass. On one end, the Creta has an unparalleled mass-market appeal and an attractive starting price tag. On the other end, the Compass brings a luxury brand within reach of the masses. To make a mark in India, the T-Roc will have to carve a niche for itself just to stay afloat in our extremely competitive market.
