Volkswagen India is all set to launch the larger Tiguan Allspace SUV in early 2020. The Allspace is the 7 seater variant of the Tiguan and comes with a larger wheelbase to accommodate the extra row of seats. Dealer sources have informed us that the Allspace will come with a BS6-compliant petrol engine and is likely to be priced around Rs 45 lakh (on-road). They have also informed that the 7-seater version could replace the standard Tiguan in the country.
VW has started testing the Tiguan Allspace on our shores. The front fascia of the Allspace looks similar to the standard model and comes with a slatted chrome grille and revised LED headlamps. In profile, the Allspace’s longer length and the longer rear overhang is instantly recognisable. The test mule was seen with dual-tone alloy wheels with a taller profile as well. At the rear, it comes with split-LED tail lamps and dual exhaust outlets.
In terms of size, the Tiguan Allspace is 4701mm long, 1839mm wide, 1674mm tall and has a 2787mm long wheelbase. The presence of third-row seats has reduced boot space to 230 litres. However, folding down the third row reveals a large 700-litre cargo space. Here’s how the Tiguan Allspace fares against the standard Tiguan in terms of size.

Inside, the Tiguan Allspace’s dashboard layout is similar to the standard model. However, we expect VW to offer it with a different colour scheme. It’s also expected to come with premium features like connected car technology, a bigger infotainment system, and digital dials. Features like the panoramic sunroof, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats as well as drive modes could be retained.
The Tiguan Allspace will only be offered with a BS6 compliant petrol engine. In all likelihood, it could be the 2.0-litre TSI unit that develops 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque. It will most likely be offered with a 7-speed DSG along with VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive tech. There won’t be a Tiguan Allspace TDI on offer as Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd is planning to discontinue diesel engines in the BS6 era.
We expect Volkswagen to showcase the Tiguan Allspace at Auto Expo 2020. Primary rivals include the Skoda Kodiaq, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4. What do you think of the Tiguan Allspace? Does its larger size make it more appealing? Let us know in the comments section below.
