A Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace has been spotted testing on the outskirts of Pune ahead of its debut in early 2020. The 7-seater premium SUV from VW is expected to be priced around Rs 45 lakh (on-road) and will be offered with a BS6 petrol engine. The Allspace could also be offered in a ‘R-Line’ trim that comes with sporty design elements.

The Tiguan Allspace looks familiar to the 5-seater version despite plenty of new design elements. Styling updates include new LED projector headlamps and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Yes, the wheels are a size small when compared to the 5-seater’s 18-inch units.  That said, we expect the Allspace to offer better ride quality thanks to taller profile tyres. Moving on to the rear, the Allspace comes with split LED tail lamps and a sporty bumper with a faux exhaust.

Inside, the Tiguan Allspace is expected to share its dashboard with the standard model. However, the 7-seater model could come with premium features like digital dials, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system and connected car technology. Features like dual-zone climate control, terrain modes, powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, drive modes as well as cruise control are likely to be carried over from the 5-seater version.

The Tiguan Allspace is expected to come with a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI engine that develops 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Power will be transferred to all four wheels via VW’s 4MOTION drivetrain and we expect the Allspace to be offered with a 7-speed DSG. Nope, Volkswagen won’t offer the Tiguan Allspace with a diesel as Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd is planning to take the petrol-only route in the BS6 era.

We expect VW India to showcase the Tiguan Allspace at Auto Expo 2020. When launched, it will lock horns with the Skoda Kodiaq, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4.
