The Volkswagen Tiguan recently broke the six million production unit mark, making it one of the best selling cars from the German carmaker in 2019. In addition to this, the carmaker has silently dropped a teaser image of a facelifted Tiguan that will be revealed later this year.
The teaser reveals a variety of exterior changes that include a new front fascia. Other changes include a slimmer grille, new headlamps and different air intake design. Expect similar changes to the rest of the design.
While the interiors of the Tiguan facelift haven’t been revealed, the carmaker has confirmed that it will feature plenty of updates. Some of them could consist of an updated infotainment system with connected car tech and new upholstery options.
While technical specifications are yet to be disclosed, Volkswagen has confirmed a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variant. The current Tiguan is offered with the choice of a 1.5-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines. Expect these engines to be carried forward.
Volkswagen is expected to debut the Tiguan facelift later this year in international markets. However, it is unlikely to come to India anytime soon as the carmaker has replaced the Tiguan with the larger Tiguan Allspace. The 7-seater SUV is currently sold at a price tag of Rs 33.13 lakh (ex-showroom).
