The two most promising markets for Volvo trucks in the future are Africa and the Middle East, however, the lack of a well established service network in the regions is a factor. To help tackle this situation Volvo’s After sales & Retail Development within the Northern Africa & Middle East (NAME) area has decided to setup a mobile workshop system which can service Volvo trucks within that region.
The newly developed mobile workshop system consists of different modules which includes everything from service and lubrication to inventory and office modules. The workshops adhere to strict Volvo guidelines which mean customers do not have to worry about quality levels of a service and maintenance functions.
Volvo Trucks rightly realise that it is one thing to alert their customers and quite another to give them a ‘touch and feel experience’. For this reason Volvo Trucks’ Aftersales & Retail Development North Africa and Middle East has showcased an exhibition model in Gothenburg where Volvo truck customers and Volvo Group co-workers are invited to visit and examine the mobile workshop system.
"The greatest advantages of this system are that it is easy to build and it is mobile. It is easy for newly established importers to move their workshop to the place where it is most needed. At the same time, this self-sufficient system is ideal for the mining, gas and oil industries, for example, as they are frequently based in remote areas that are difficult to access," says Patrik Andrén, head of Aftersales & Retail Development within Northern Africa & Middle East.
These mobile service workshop modules are for sale on order and can be setup in any place the customer wants it. Volvo tricks will run these mobile workshops for customers on an established agreement with the customer. One such mobile workshop module has already been sold.
