If you are a first-time car buyer, finding the right set of wheels that is not only efficient, but also value-for-money can be a tedious affair. Fortunately, Datsun has a solution - redi-GO. Touted as India’s first urban-cross, the redi-GO was launched in 2016 and is one of the most affordable hatchbacks on sale in the country. The redi-GO’s sporty styling and high ground clearance makes it a more practical choice than its biggest rival - the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. The design represents freedom, fun and life - everything that youngsters stand for - and gives you the confidence to go further.
Its tallboy design makes redi-GO more practical than Alto 800. The excellent headroom and space on offer is unparalleled in the segment. But what’s the point of all that space if you can't take your luggage with you? Fret not, for the Datsun redi-GO has a class-leading boot space of 222 liters making it the ideal companion for your weekend trips and airport runs. With a generous 185 mm of ground clearance, compared to Alto 800’s 160 mm, redi-GO has been engineered to tackle everything that Indian roads can throw at it. Other best-in-class features like the LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and an audio player that supports CD, MP3, USB, Aux, AM and FM make redi-GO a tempting first car.
Compared to its main rival - Alto 800 – Datsun’s latest hatchback is lighter and more powerful making city driving a breeze. The 0.8-litre three cylinder petrol engine develops 54 PS of power and 72 Nm of torque compared to Alto’s engine that only produces 49 PS and 69 Nm. The slick 5-speed gearbox is an added advantage.
Now, you might say that for many first-time car buyers, fuel efficiency and safety take priority over features. Thankfully, redi-GO performs on that front as well. With a claimed fuel-efficiency of 25.17 km/l, it is the most fuel efficient hatchback in the country. In terms of safety, redi-GO, like Alto 800, is available with driver airbag as an option. And unlike Alto 800, the special edition redi-GO sport variant comes with passenger airbag and ABS along with a Bluetooth-enabled audio system, go-faster racing stripes, rear spoiler and sportier interiors enhancing the ownership experience even more. Datsun has ensured that the cost of ownership is competitive to that of Alto 800 and is working hard on expanding its dealer and service network across the country to ensure peace of mind for the owner. Priced in the range- Rs 2.39 lakh to Rs 3.34 lakh, redi-GO undercuts Alto 800’s price by a huge margin making it the most value-for-money hatchback that you can buy today.
