Open top convertibles may deliver a wind in your face experience but there is a lot of turbulence and air disturbance in the passenger cabin while driving which can mess up your hair. A wind deflector can save you from a bad hairstyle at the end of the drive in a convertible car. Read on to know what a wind deflector is

Wind deflectors are usually a glass panel behind the front seats or in between the front seats that can be electronically raised or lowered. The panel can be raised to reduce forward wind speed between the front seats and the passenger cabin by as much as 75% which is roughly equal to the kind of wind flow you experience while walking. Wind deflectors direct the airflow over and around the passenger cabin instead of allowing it to flow in the passenger cabin. This reduces air disturbance at highway speeds and reduces the chilling effect from cold air in the atmosphere.
