Speaking on the occasion, Roy Kurian, Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales, said, “The launch of the Ray Precious Edition is a clear illustration of how the market has responded to our range of scooters and reinforces our belief in the Yamaha Ray. Our strategic intent is to provide customers the Ray in a stylishly new design to match their personal style. These scooters have been instrumental in catapulting our sales to an all new level. We have kept the essence of the Yamaha Ray intact while altering the aesthetics to exemplify the glamour quotient of these compact and easy to ride vehicles. We are confident that this variant too with its vibrant black and pink design will highly appeal to our target audiences and help us tap on the festive spirits of the market.”

Yamaha Motor India entered the scooter segment in India in September 2012 with its Yamaha RAY which targeted young Indian women. The company has taken a number of steps to encourage more female riders of its scooter like improving the customer care quality for female customers by appointing more female staff at customer contact points and introducing female customer care program. The company also plans to develop & launch the Yamaha Female Riding Training Program for female customers who have a concern to ride a scooter or want to obtain a riding license.
